Silver Geometry – Artist Statement
Broken down to the basics, everything becomes abstract. This project focuses on basic, fundamental elements of photography and design. The geometric designs, influenced by constructivism and art deco, act as guidelines for the introduction of photo-reactive chemicals. The chemicals become a pallet to provide basic color and texture, while value is introduced through the use of photogram objects, moved and removed during the course of exposure.
No matter how complex these designs become, or how many layers of artistic interaction I add, they are elemental and simple. They are direct applications of the basic requirements of photography: light, reactive material, and the artist's view.
