Following scientific speculation and research on non-traditional life has inspired me since childhood. Scientists have discovered clouds of dust in space that form into patterns which grow, move and even reproduce themselves. In short, clouds of dust that display all the qualities of living beings. The ice-covered oceans of Saturnian and Jovian moons, even the lightless depths of our own world's seas provide glimpses into the myriad of forms that light might take in hostile or strange environments. Hydromorphs is my attempt to explore the possibilities of liquid as a life form, while also playing against the 'reality' of the photograph. The Hydromorphs are not real, they are not based on evidence or careful research. They are a flight of fancy. Yet, they appear real simply because of how they've been made.
